So, as I mentioned in this previous post, I am going to be attempting some 55 word short stories based on randomly selected writing prompts. Today’s story was based on the prompt:
“172. Crossword Puzzle: Open up the newspaper or find a crossword puzzle online and choose one of the clues to use as inspiration for your writing.“
The Crossword clue I chose, and the title of this story is: Pub Offering.
Sacrificial circle laid; he slits the throat.
Heart removed and given to flame.
Ashes placed in the silver box.
The offering is made, bargain struck.
The glass of golden liquid slides across the marble top.
The Barman grimaces, examining the payment.
“We also take Apple Pay, you know, for next time. I’ll fetch a mop.”
Well, that definitely got the creative juices flowing at least. The next prompt is number… 318!
318. Health & Beauty: Take some time to peruse your medicine cabinet or the health and beauty aisles at a local store. Write a poem, short story, or journal entry inspired by a product label.
